TISA Reopens Campus for MYP

As quarantine in Azerbaijan is being loosened, schools are reopening. In fact, beginning the week of February 15, TISA is reopening campus to their students by following a hybrid program. The return to campus is structured in a way that allows students to interact with their grade level without spreading the virus as well as students still online to follow the lessons.

Each grade will go to school twice a week and will have to follow strict rules of social distancing. These rules include wearing masks, minimizing the number of people in each room, and keeping doors and windows open for ventilation.

The timetables and entrances have also been adjusted so that there are only a few grade levels on campus at any given time, and also so that there’s not too much crowding at the gates. There are also limitations for moving around the campus in order to minimize the contact between primary and secondary students

The first grade levels to go back on Monday will be M2s and M5s and they’re all very excited about going back. Pablo Loboguerrero (M5), “I can’t wait to see my friends in a school context again since it’ll make lessons more fun. I also enjoy being forced out of the house since it makes me feel more energetic and overall happier.”

“Although it’s more comfortable working from home and being able to wake up later, I do miss my friends and find it hard to stay motivated when working alone.” – Emma Roussat (DP1)

Unfortunately, not everyone will return to campus as the government isn’t currently allowing DPs to return to in-person learning. While some students do not want to change their current schedule, the vast majority want to go back so that they can experience a glimpse of how school used to feel like.

Emma Roussat (DP1) says she has “mixed feelings about not going back to school.”

“Although it’s more comfortable working from home and being able to wake up later, I do miss my friends and find it hard to stay motivated when working alone” she says.

Although a lot of students already meet up out of school with their friends, it’ll be a good change for everyone to go back to campus as they can finally socialize in a school environment and with way more people than just their close friends.

After their first week back to campus, Maya (M3) says that she “thought it was going to be weird, but it was nice to actually see people and although I haven’t had any summatives yet, it’s not too difficult.”
