Bond broken! Chemistry teacher and catalyst for growth Ms. McNaught heads to Australia!

Catherine McNaught

As heartbroken as we all our to see our wonderful chemistry teacher go, we are grateful to have had the chance to learn from her: from stoichiometric relationships and atomic structure to life lessons and unforgettable advice for the future, the IB chemistry class could never forget the fun and insightful stories you would share with them, the moral messages of which we keep close to our hearts.

One could say chemical bonding wasn’t the only ‘bonding’ taking place in Ms. McNaught’s class, as we got to share stories of our own, and created meaningful connections with both our peers and Ms. McNaught, plentiful of inside jokes.

Chemistry was never boring – Ms. McNaught made learning easy filled with lots of laughter as well as understanding and compassion, so we’d like to express our outmost respect to you. Moving forward, we’ll be sure to be put in rice to dry our tears, although the quantity of tears is likely to decrease after completing the IB, as well as test the cow theory in future essays to keep our other teachers alert and entertained as you have with us.

You will be missed greatly Ms. McNaught, but none of your advice and stories will be forgotten, as we were incredibly happy with our experiences in your class. We wish you the very best in Brisbane, Australia, and know that even when you stop teaching, you’ll have a sagacious and positive influence on those around you, like your wonderful three grandchildren and two sons with whom we hope you have plenty of family time and a delightful reconnection.

We would like to thank you for being the catalyst (pun intended) for our growth and intellectual development both in the scientific field and in our personal lives. Sincerely, thank you.
