Study Period Boredom? Here’s the cure…

TISA’s study period has been a topic of controversy in the past few months. Many teachers believe it should be discontinued, while some students use it as a valuable time to study.

But, how do you use your study period productively when you have nothing to study? We’ve put together a list of productive activities for a ‘study-less’ study period.

  1. Draw

Having an extra period of free time in your day allows for you to relax and let your creative juices flow! Draw what you’re feeling, or maybe draw a friend – the ideas are endless. Studies have shown that when bored, you are more creative than usual. Take advantage of the science of boredom and create something amazing!

  1. Create some playlists

If you love music, this one’s for you. Platforms like spotify and apple music allow you to create playlists to your liking. Maybe make a playlist specifically for study period?  Go wild with it! Rock out to your favorites while your friends are studying.

  1. Catch-up with a friend

This one can be a bit tricky. You have to make sure your friend has no work to do, and that your discussion doesn’t disturb anyone else’s study period. We encourage you to discuss some academic topics, such as upcoming assignments, politics, philosophy, etc.

  1. Listen to a TMC podcast

TMC releases an episode every two weeks, so chances are that when you’re bored in study period, there will be something new to listen to. Our podcasts keep you up to date with the happenings in TISA while providing you with high-quality entertainment, run by your own friends!

  1. Redo your homescreen

Creating an aesthetically pleasing homescreen has been a trend among Apple iPhone users for a while now. This extra time gives you a chance to redo your home screen and make it reflect your most recent interests. TMC would love to see your homescreen work! Submit your awesome homescreen at mediaclub@tisa.az for a chance to get featured in one of our next articles.

  1. Homework

We know, homework sounds dreadful. However, completing this work now makes for more free-time later! Not only are you being productive, but teachers can see how dedicated you are to your school work. Doing homework makes for a very productive study period, and we highly suggest taking advantage of this time. So get to work, TISA!

  1. Read

Reading during this extra time not only enriches your brain, but teaches you more about yourself, as well as other subjects. TISA’s library could always use more eager visitors, so ask your teacher if you can visit and grab a book for study period!
