Mr. Dan is going (back!) to Russia!

Dan Egorov

Mr. Dan: The iconic IT director. The person we all went to when our wifi was down, our computer froze, and for many other countless computer problems. The person who always reminded us to not eat or drink by our computers. One of the first faces we saw at TISA on our first day at Secondary School. But how much do you really know about Mr. Dan?

Mr. Dan has been at TISA for 9 years, since August of 2012. His first job was two years as the Primary School Technology Integrator. He then changed to the Secondary School IT director. When asked, he said he had too many good memories of TISA to list, many of them non-work related, some of them tech related: “Too many highs to list. The non-tech related: Just seeing happy students studying and taking initiative in an incredible school. Tech-related: seeing technology being used meaningfully in teaching and learning, being surprised at new ways the technology is being used, and seeing some amazing projects in the process.”

However, in any job, there are lows. Mr. Dan says he conquers them more of a challenge: “The lows: well, I always consider the lows to be more of a challenge that needs to be taken on. A funny one: When I first came in August 2012 to implement technology in the Primary School, there was no technology – the equipment only arrived in October of that year. So I spent a lot of time working with the teachers of the Primary School in those months doing anything and everything I could to help and getting to know the teachers and students.”

Mr. Dan and his family are moving to Moscow, Russia. He had lived there for the first 15 years of his life, but has been away for 27 years. To him, Moscow will be a new place to discover.

Thank you, Mr. Dan, for always being there for us during our computer problems and smiling through your mask at everyone. Thank you. We will miss you lots.
